Unit Objective To develop Ss’ basic skills of listening, speaking, and reading; To encourage Ss to practice, participate, and cooperate in the classroom activities; To get Ss to know something about the itinerary and learn how to arrange the itinerary properly for the guests; To practice the dialogue between a local guide and a tour manager; To master the new words and phrases in the passage. Background Knowledge An itinerary is a detailed plan of the tour. Dates and times of arrivals and departures should be very clearly set out. All flight details included. The number and name of the flight Flying time Airline reference The seat class Name of the city and terminal airport Final report at the airports is clearly stated in time Everyday activities arrangement There will be a check-list of documents required for the trip. Airline Ticket Valid Passport Applicable Visas Completed departure card Departure tax—prepaid 3. The Baggage allowance per person will also be noted, e.g. 20 kg. Situational Dialogue The following dialogue is between a local guide and a tour manager. Lily: Good morning, Mr. Brown. Sorry to disturb you, but I come to talk about the itinerary. Mr. Brown: OK.
