* Snow Cover and Ice Extent have Decreased Satellite data show that snow cover extent has very likely decreased by about 10% since the 1960s. Ground-based observations show that the duration of lake and river ice cover has been reduced by about 2 weeks in the Northern hemisphere. Similarly, Northern hemisphere spring and summer sea-ice extent has decreased by about 10 to 15% since the 1950s.
