Retention of the FDG tracer records metabolic tumour activity in relation to normal tissues. After 4 weeks of therapy with imatinib, this patient showed a marked attenuation of signal on the PET scan. FDG-PET scan may provide early clinical evidence of biological response to imatinib for patients with malignant GISTs. Referenc
