一、教学目标:
1.学习语句:Helen Keller was born in America in 1880.
She became blind and deaf.
She couldn’t see and she couldn’t hear.
2.能口头运用Helen Keller was born in America in 1880.这类语句来介绍人物。
3.能运用could和couldn’t谈论某人过去的能力。
4.能识别单词born, child, as, later, drew, letter, herself, all over, world, model, 并能书写could,couldn’t.
5.通过学习Helen Keller这位世界上著名身残志坚有志之人的优秀事迹,让学生学有所得,学有所悟,希望她的精神能激励和教育我们的学生在任何时候遇到艰难永不退缩。

Step1: Warm-up
1. Greetings!
2. Have a chant.
Blind, blind, he can’t see.
Deaf, deaf, he can’t hear.
But he can read
and he can write.

Step2: Lead-in
Show a photo of Helen Keller, and lead in the new lesson.
T: Look at this photo! Who is she? Do you know her?
Ss: Helen Keller.
T:Yes, you are right. She is Helen Keller. And today we’ll learn something about Helen Keller. Now turn to page 30 and learn Module8 Unit1 Helen Keller.(板书题目)
Step3: Presentation
1. Free talk: What do you know about Helen Keller?(大屏幕出示问题及答案,答案以图片和句子的形式呈现。)
(1) She couldn’t see. She was blind. (2) She couldn’t hear. She was deaf.
(3) She could read. She could also write.
(设计意图:再次复习单词“blind, deaf, see, hear, can, can’t, read, write”,为学习课文做铺垫。同时引出“could, couldn’t”)
2. Listen, point and find “could, couldn’t”. At the same time ,underline the new words.
