Objectives (2 mins) 1. Talk about trends and fads you are interested in. 2. Discuss the differences between trends and fads. 3. Grasp main idea and structure of the text. This part is shown on the screen or written on the blackboard. Lead-in (15 mins) The following questions will be asked for the students to discuss. What trends and fads have you observed in your life? How do you understand trends and fads? How do you think trends and fads influence our lifestyle? What do you think the differences between trends and fads? Group discussion and representative speech are conducted. Text analysis (30 mins) Text structure The whole text is divided into three parts: Introduction, Body and Conclusion, each part comprising one or several paragraphs. It is clearly sown as follows: Theme: Our Changing Lifestyle: Trends and Fads(Title) Part I Introduction: (Para. 1) Presenting the thesis statement: These days, our changing lifestyle is “a whole way of living”.
