闻名遐迩的上下九商业街位于老城区西关,东起上下九路,西至第十甫西,横贯宝华路、文昌路,全长1200多米,全路段店铺林立、共有商店300多家,日客流量达60万次。荟萃了岭南文化中的岭南建筑文化、岭南饮食文化和岭南民俗风情。以其悠久的商业文化、独特的建筑文化、独具风味的饮食文化、浓郁的西关民族文化等深深地吸引广州本地人的光顾,更是外地游客的必去之地。
近年,对广州老城区——荔湾区老城改造计划,亦都逐步落实工作。对于位于荔湾区的城中心的上下九商圈,亦成为改造计划的一部分。
