The first slide read simply this: “Education = $”. I felt uncomfortable, not knowing exactly why. 2 Education, throughout my high school experience, continued to be described to me like this: college means a diploma. A diploma means a better job. A better job means more money. More money means a good life. But I wondered who had decided the criteria for a “better” job and a “good” life. It all seemed so mathematical. College is how you become an earner, they told me. My major that first semester was International Relations.
