20~~~~~~~Comparison of the Bladder Post Void Residual between Healthy Adults of Different Age Groups Abstract: Objective: apply B-ultrasound to measure the bladder post void residual so as to make a comparison of the bladder post void residual between healthy adults of different age groups and to make an approach to the differences in the bladder post void residual of healthy adults of different sexes and of different age groups. Methods: choose 19 men and 19 women from the 20y-29y age group; choose 29 men and 33 women from the 30y-39y age group; choose 22 men and 30 women from the 40y-49y age group; choose 10 men and 15 women from the 50y-60y age group, and all of the subjects are selected at random. Apply abdominal B-ultrasound for scanning and inspection, measure the up-down, left-right and front-back diameters of the bladder respectively after emiction; derive the bladder post void residual by the use of the major clinical formula: V=0.5d1·d2·d3. Results: 1 there are no significant differences in the bladder post void residual between the male and the female groups of the same age(P0.01); 2 there are no significant differences among those different female age groups in the bladder post void residual(P0.01)l; 3 there are significant differences among the 20y-29y male group, the 30y-39y male group and the 50y-60y male group in the bladder post void residual(P0.01); we see no significant differences among the other male age groups. Conclusion:Different urinating postures of male or female subjects from the same age group as well as theoretic differences between physiology and structure anatomy would not result in differences in the bladder post void residual. Bladder post void residual of the male subjects from different age groups increases as the age grows. However, the age has nothing to do with the bladder post void residual of the female subjects from different age
