Introduction to Ningbo Ningbo is located at the middle of the coastal line of mainland China and in the south of developed Yangtze River Delta, not far from Shanghai and Hangzhou. With the high level of opening-up, Ningbo is a specifically designated city in the state plan having the provincial-level economic authority. Its total area reached 9816 square kilometers and population 5.801 million in 2013, including 2.276 million urban citizens. Ningbo’s GDP totalized RMB 712.89 billion with the growth rate of 8.1% as calculated by comparable prices. Its per capita GDP was RMB 93176 as calculated on the basis of permanent residents (converted to USD 15046 subject to yearly average exchange rate); its public budget revenue was RMB 165.12 billion and local fiscal revenue RMB 79.28 billion, respectively up by 7.5% and 9.3%; its urban residents’ per capita disposable income achieved RMB 41729, up by 10.1%; rural residents’ per capita net income RMB 20534, up by 11.1%; cargo handling capacity of the port 500 million tons, up by 9.5%; container throughput 16.774 million, up by 7.0%. In 2013, the gross merchandise sales of Ningbo reached RMB 1.22 trillion, up by 15.4% over the previous year. The retail sales of consumer goods totalized RMB 263.57 billion, up by 13.3%.
