JIANGSU has Chinas second largest provincial economy after Guangdong, with its GDP reaching Rmb344.7bn in 2009-a growth of 12.4% on the previous year. This makes its economy similar in size to that of Switzerland and bigger than those of Belgium, Sweden, Saudi Arabia and Norway. With 77.3m inhabitants it is not the most populous province but, being relatively small, it is the most densely populated.
