System Description The RPET scanner is part of a whole-body positron emission tomgraphy system providing 3-D volume measurements of metabolic and physiologic processes. The system consists of the RPET scanner, an integrated workstation, the Advanced Computational System, and a patient couch. It is available as a four-ring system with a 16.0cm(63 planes) field of view, and a three-ring system with a 12.0 (47 planes) field of view. Simultaneous acquisition, image reconstruction, processing, and data analysis can be performed for high patient throughput and prompt results. System Application The RPET scanner is furnished with RPET software for application in cardiology, oncology and neurology. It provides the clinical solution with high resolution and high resolution and high performance PET imaging for static, dynamic acquisition. With an extended field of view, the RPET provides more accurate organ imaging. Whole-body scanning is also possible, yielding high resolution imaging of primary and secondary tumors in tissue and bone. Special features Gantry The gantry is designed with timing, positioning, and energy discrimination electronics in close proximity to the detectors to reduce data transmission noise while increasing system reliability. Triple laser positioning and dual operator controls on gantry ensure fast, accurate patient positioning. Electronics enclosed in the gantry result in the most efficient use of vital foolscap, thereby eliminating the need for an electronics room and freeing space for other uses such as a patient preparation room. Patented detector blocks provide high resolution, high quality imaging and quantitative accuracy. Unique motorized retractable septa permits 3-D acquisition.
