1. Learn about a mysterious story about Yeti.
2. Get students to conduct a free discussion about some mysterious and unexplained phenomena in the world. Encourage the students to make full use of resources and share their imaginative ideas with each other.
3. Learn some useful expressions.

1. Students are expected to describe what they have known about the mysterious story 棗 tSearching for the Yeti.
2. Encourage students to discuss about some mysterious and unexplained phenomena in the world and use what they have learnt in this unit to complete a project.

Step 1 Lead-in
T: When I was at your age, I liked reading all kinds of books, especially stories. Do you like reading books? What kind of books do you like to read? Could you tell me some of their names?
S: Harry Potter.
T: Oh, that is a book full of magic and mysteries. Today we will learn about a mysterious story 棗 tSearching for the Yeti.
Step 2 Reading
1. Skimming
T: Open your books and turn to P18 and look at the picture, what is it in the picture? Have you ever seen such a creature? Do you know its name?
Ss: Yeti.
T: Right. Now let′s read the whole passage and try to find the answers to the following two questions:
Where have people reported seeing a wild man-like creature?
All over the world.
When and where did an American mountain climber see a Yeti?
In 1998 and on the Chinese side of the Himalayas.
2. Scanning
(1) What does the Yeti look like? Try to find some words or phrases from the passage to describe their appearance:
man-like;heavily built;hairy-black fur;huge shoulders;6 feet tall;long arms;large hands;large feet
(2) Here are some new words from the article. Match the words with their meanings, please.
