Language goals:
In this unit students learn to talk about the robots.
New languages:
I don’t want to hear what you have to say!
I don’t know when I’ll post the letter for you.
What can a robot do?
A robot can do many different things.
Why do people buy robots?
In order to have more free time, I have to buy a robot.
Perhaps you need to teach it to talk.
I know you are interested in robots.
It can sweep the floor and iron clothes.
That sounds good.
Difficult points:
1. How to improve the students’ reading, listening, speaking and writing abilities according to the reading materials.
2. The object clause introduced by ‘wh-’ words.
3. How to use ‘in order to’, ‘as a result’ and ‘need to’. Teaching aids:
computer, video, recorder, colorful chalk
Teaching periods:

3. Train the reading abilities.
Teaching procedures:
Step 1. Free talk
Let students talk about something about robots.
Step 2. Presentation
Ask students to look at the cartoon pictures.
(1) First let them read and try to understand the meaning.
(2) As they work, the teacher goes around the room offering help as needed.
(3) Then ask the students to act out the dialogue in pairs.
