Unit 2 English around the World Teacher: Lesson during: 45 minutes Lesson type: grammar Description of students: 60 Senior high school students, Grade 1 Textbook/Page number: 12 I. Teaching Objectives By the end of this lesson, students should be able to understand and use commands , requests, indirect speech about commands and requests correctly ; learn to distinguish commands and requests ; learn to be polite to others ; learn to be a good listener and brave to make commands and requests in English; II. Teaching Important/ Difficult Points commands, requests, indirect speech about commands and requests III. Teaching Methods The guided discovery method IV. Teaching Aids blackboard chalk paper with two conversations V. Teaching Procedures Step 1 Greetings/ Revision (2- 4 mins) 1. Greeting with students. 2. Review the important points students have learn last class. Step 2 Lead-in/ Warming-up ( 2 mins) Say sentences about making commands and requests. Step 3 Presentation ( 13 mins) Students are required to find out commands and requests from the two dialogues on the paper. Students are required to find out the differences between commands and requests. Explain and analyze the differences between commands and requests for students. Guide students to retell the command and request in indirect speech. Step 4 Practice (12mins) Do exercise 2 and exercise 3, on page 12 Step 5 Production ( 10 mins) 1.Discuss the question if your English teacher is telling your class what you must do for homework. You cannot hear your teacher clearly. What should you say to your classmates to find out what to do. 2. Do the exercise 1 in USING STRUCTURES, on page 50 Step 6 Summary and Homework ( 4 mins) Summary Restate the important grammar points Homework Make 4 commands and 4 requests and retell them in indirect speech VI.
