Rubric Observations EssentialsCriteria: All skills are listed in developmental orderValidation: All skills must be observed a minimum of three times (use of photographs, or comments, or anecdotal comments, or combination formats). Young children often are at an emergent skill development. This means that consolidation of a skill may not be evident consistently and therefore needs to be observed over time. Transfer of learning – When a skill is consolidated, it should be evident in different settings and circumstances. Therefore, skills need to be observed in different settings and circumstances over more than one day.Independent – Children need to demonstrate these skills independently.
