Welcome to Yunnan. Now we are on the way to the Yunnan Nationalities Village. As we will be there in a few minutes, let me give you a brief introduction about Yunnan. Yunnan has a very long history and ancient civilization. The creators of this wonderful land are not any others but 26 nationalities who have been living on this land. There are altogether 56 nationalities in China, and 25 ethnic minorities are living in Yunnan Province. Yunnan is the only province in China where there are so many nationalities, and 15 of 26 nationalities can only be found in Yunnan. As Yunnan has so many nationalities, it has lots of different cultures. If you want to have a general idea of them, it is not practical to travel around all the areas. Then what you can do is what we are doing now; let’s visit Yunnan Nationalities Village! That’s why we built the “Yunnan Nationalities Village”. We can say, “They kill several birds with one stone”. The Yunnan Nationalities Village is now an important resort in Kunming, the capital of Yunnan. It is located on the lakeshore of Dianchi Lake, the bright Pearl on the Plateau in the south of Kunming and occupies 1340 mu. In the Yunnan Nationalities Village 25 villages are meant to be built for each of the 25 ethnic minorities in Yunnna, now they are still under construction, only 13 villages have been finished, and we can visit them. In the village you can watch the song and dance performance given by different nationalists. And you will enjoy the beautiful scenes made by the blue sky, green trees, colourful flowers and so on. OK, now we are at the Yunnan Nationalities Village. The main gate is just over there. See? There are some white elephants wondering along the fields. They are singing to welcome you. The first spot we will get to is the Dai Nationalities Village. This village is a miniature of the Dai area with 3 sides facing waters and beautiful scenery.
