Step 1 Warm up
1.Greetings.
2.Brainstorm: Write down the word “food” on the blackboard and ask the Ss to speak out other words relating to it.
3. Ask the students to talk about their favorite food and whether they like Western food or not.
4. Ask the students if they know what fast food is.
Step 2 Background Information
Fast food is food that is prepared and served quickly with minimal service in fast-food restaurants. The food is often cooked in bulk in advance and kept hot, or reheated to order. It is a multi-billion dollar industry that continues to grow rapidly in many countries. Because the investment to start a fast-food restaurant is relatively small, fast-food restaurants are common throughout the world. In response to attacks against “fast food”, the industry has been trying to move the public away from that term by shifting to “quick service restaurant (QSR)”. But consumers still refer to them as fast-food restaurants.
Ask students whether they know some American Table Manners and how often they go to McDonald’s
Talk about the Table manners in China and Western countries.
