Teaching aims: 1. Understand some new words: art English history maths chemistry science 2. Grasp how to talk about the time in English. ■.Teaching procedure: 1. Show Teaching aims . 2. Show Guide One. Ask the ss to try to pronounce new words within 3 minutes. The teacher correct them if necessary. Then ask some ss to read one by one. The all other ss follow one to read them aloud. 3. Show Guide Two . 1)Look at the pictures,listen and repeat the time. There are four pictures here. Each one of them shows a different time. Please look at the pictures first. Try to say the time yourself. Now listen to the tape and repeat the time after it. 2) Match the pictures and the sentences. Look at these four pictures. Can you match them with the sentences on the right? It’s not hard work, right? Now look at your own watch. What time is it now? a It’s half past eight. → picture 3 b Its six oclock. → picture 2 c Its half past four. → picture 1 d It’s two oclock. → picture 4 4. Practice. 整点:整点钟 + o’clock eg: 含有小时和分钟: 1). 顺读法: 直接说数字,先说小时数,后说分钟数。 eight ten(8:10)八点十分 2). 时间未过半: 分钟+past+点钟 eg: 时间刚好一半: half past + 点钟 eg: 4). 时间已过半: (60?分钟) + to + (点钟 +1) eg:8:50=(60 ?50)+to+(8+1)=ten to nine 5.
