Extensive applications of bioinformatics in life science research field result in huge economic and social benefits. Chinese medicinal resources including plant resources, animal resources, and mineral resources is the basis for the development of Chinese medicine industry. Among them, the Chinese traditional medicinal plant resources is a natural source is the most widely used traditional Chinese medicine resources. The rise and rapid development of bioinformatics has made great progress and achievements in the world, provided new research methods and ideas for the study of traditional Chinese medicine resources, and greatly promoted the study of traditional Chinese medicine resources and industrial development. This article summarizes applications of common bioinformatics technology in study of Chinese medicinal resources, in order to provide basic information and methods for the study of it.
