Hello, class. I am glad to be with you again. I hope you work hard at your lessens and be happy in and out of school. To begin with we shall go over the making of a sentence. As we learned last term a sentence is made up of several parts. The subject comes at the beginning part. The predicative comes after the subject. And the object follows the predictive. Look at the following sentences. He started a school magazine last week. We showed her his new camera. His diary made her very sad . ■?Listen and read. On page 2 is a conversation between Betty, Daming, Lingling and Tony. Now let’s go on to read it first. While reading, try to: cut/ the sentence into thought groups, study the predicative, darken the connectives and underline all the useful expressions. Now we will listen to the conversation. Useful expressions come in and sit down, have a meeting, be news to …, do one’s homework, a school magazine, listen up, watch television, yesterday evening, see the interview with… , sing with the band…, one’s favourite singer, go to one’s school, start a school magazine called …, write down some ideas, write a diary of…, school events, tell… about…, the school concert, the dance club, school basketball matches, write the articles, any more ideas, do some reviews about…, one’s favourite bands
