Java Virtual Machine (JVM) Is an abstract computing machine implemented in software on a real machine (hardware) Reads compiled byte codes that are platform independent Was designed to support the Java programming language Is usually written natively for every operating system Java Virtual Machine (JVM) Java Heap The area of memory where blocks are dynamically allocated is called the heap. The JVM heap stores all objects created by an executing Java program. Any object referred to by a root is reachable and is therefore a live object.
