翻译练习题 练习一 A. Translate the following passage into Chinese. For the specialist, it is true, translated works are no substitute for the original, and I have urged my students to learn as many foreign languages as possible, yet translations serve a useful purpose for the vast reading public who desires to seek world-wide knowledge in fields ranging from literature and culture to science and technology but who lacks the facility and opportunity to read books in the original language. The art of translation is a combination of literary skills, acquired and perfected through long, persistent practice, and the knowledge of the grammatical rules and linguistic principles, whose application makes for correctness and exactitude.
