When the vehicle in starting, climbing, turning, acceleration etc normal driving conditions needs to work in the most favorable working range of the engine to obtain different traction and speed. In order to make the car more flexible to achieve acceleration and deceleration and other condition, it must use the efficient transmission device to change the engine working on the drive wheel.This paper introduces a C50 car for the Great Wall on the five speed manual transmission design, the main design process conclude: according to the range of the torque transmission needed to adjust, first determine the basic design of the the Great Wall C50 type manual transmission,it includes the arrangement of the transmission parts gear layout and shift mechanism. Then according to the transmission ratio of the device and the required motor output shaft speed, use the calculation and the look-up table to select engine type. Considering the transmission power and economy requirements of the ratio and the factors that influence the performance of the transmission of the vehicle according to the knowledge of mechanics of materials, mechanical design, mechanical principle to choose the manual transmission gear, bearing and shaft and other major parts of the relevant parameters and then finish the strength check, then ac
