It has long coastline which contributes to the development of the economic and it also has the most abundant energy among the countries in the European Union. It is one of the countries mostly produce natural gas and petroleum and it’s also one of the most important countries of fishery. The population of Britain is more than sixty million and it ranks third among the European countries, just below that of Russia and Germany, and the land area of Great Britain now is about 245,000 square kilometers. England is the birthplace of the Industrial Revolution and the first modern country that changed from agricultural civilization to industrial civilization. It was in the glorious era of development in the field of science and technology and industry, and became the number one power in the world in the nineteenth century. But later it was exceeded by America and Germany and the powerful empire was gone forever in the twentieth century. It is still a powerful industrial country in Europe and it is the sixth in the economic rankings in the world now. Introduction The British Empire was the largest empire in human history, and now it isn’t as powerful as before any more though it remains in the mainstream of modern international community.
