妙语连珠之英语习语(idioms)和俚语(slangs) 前言：关于考试，专家发现很多中国人眼中作文水平良好，用词也相对比较准确的同学,在国际性考试写作部分中成绩却不如人意。究其原因，一是表达不符合英语思维；而是对西方文化知之甚少，导致无话可说。 如果我们是考官，看见两份由国外的考生完成的中文作文，一份语言平平，通篇没有亮点之处。如：“她的舞跳得真好，观众们都大声就好。”而另一篇则是妙语连珠，恰当地使用了几句成语或者歇后语，我们会认为哪一位考生的中文能力更有说服力呢？答案是不言而喻的。“英语习语”是西方文化的代表之一。它以其精炼，短小幽默，风趣且富于哲理性的特征被广泛应用于日常生活交际，报刊杂志以及电视广播媒体之中。 作为中国学生，这样通过学习语来提高英语写作？ 1. 看美剧/英剧，听VOA,周日固定节目（Words and their stories.) 2. 读英语原著（如圣经），和英语报纸。 e.g. Pandoras box (摘自圣经） 这个表达摘自圣经，字面意思是“潘多拉的盒子”，但在典故当中，潘多拉的盒子象征着“万恶之源”，“造成极大的混乱”。因此在生活中人们常用到它的引申义。 例句：(名词替换：Pandoras box替换cause) The car is the cause of pollution. The car is Pandoras box of pullution. 为方便大家积累这些习语，大家可以按照“身体，颜色，天气，食物,衣物，生活用品，位置等等对其进行分类。当然为了方便为写作所用，我们在这里就按可替换词类来积累了。 1. 名词替换 1） the apple（食物） of ones eye e.g. He is the apple of his fathers eye. --He is his fathers favorite son. 眼中的瞳孔/掌上明珠 2) a piece of cake（食物）/ not a big deal/no biggie e.g. Learning English is a piece of cake/not a big deal/no biggie. -- Learning English is an easy job/thing. 小菜一碟/小事一桩/没什么大不了的 3）a hard nut(食物） to crack(vt 使破裂，打开）. e.g. Oh, its really a hard nut to crack. -- Oh, its really a tough thing/problem. 一件难事/一个难题 4）fair-weather(天气） friend e.g. He is just a fair-weather fiend.
