Meanwhile, learners will perceive those behaviors which would reflect specific cultural norms from cultural viewpoints. Then the communicative goals are able to be facilitated in the interaction. And it is beneficial to improving the foreign language teaching paralleled by the necessity and significance of culture teaching and nonverbal teaching which belongs to culture teaching. 【Key Words】verbal communication; nonverbal communication; foreign language teaching; culture teaching 【摘 要】本文揭示了非言语交际行为是交际的重要组成部分,在外语教学中应当正确引导学生了解、运用非言语行为,从而感知和理解该行为反映出的特定的文化行为,最终达到交际的目的。并指出认识到文化教学以及包含其中的非言语教学的重要性与必要性对提高外语教学不无裨益。 【关键词】言语交际;非言语交际;外语教学,文化教学。 1.Introduction With the thoroughgoing research on cross-cultural communication,people pay close attention to nonverbal communication accordingly.The research on nonverbal communication was founded in 1950’s;later the field of research has developed rapidly from anthropology to linguistics.In the middle of 1960’s,Rivers(1 964),an American applied linguist,brought the achievements in nonverbal communication into foreign language teaching,which became an important part of foreign language teaching. In China,nonverbal communication is still in the rudimentary stage.As a process of cross-cultural communication,foreign language teaching can not be separated from nonverbal behavior.However,during our foreign language teaching,nonverbal communication is usually ignored.This essay mainly states that as an essential component of communication,nonverbal communication should be comprehended and utilize
