Unit 3 Feelings and Emotions No.9 Period 1 Goals: 1. Make the students grasp some words, phrases and important sentences. 2. Know how to express feelings and emotions. 3. Try to improve the students’ listening and speaking ability. Important points: I feel happy for/at/to/about/that/when Difficult points: Act out the dialogue. Teaching methods: Listening Speaking Acting Practicing Procedures: Step 1 Warm- up 1. Ask some students to describe people by answering the question “What does she/ he look like? She/ He’s got long/ short hair/ an oval face/ big eyes…. 2. Describe some students in the classroom and let them guess. Step 2 Listening Listening 1 Let the students know the words and expressions: excited, worried, happy, sad, fantastic, delighted, give sb. …off Listen to the tape twice and check the answers. Step 3 Speaking Dialogue 1 Let the students complete the dialogue with the words given in the box. Check the answers. Pay more attention to: great, fantastic, I feel so…at the news. Read the dialogue after the tape/ in groups/ in pairs. Ask some pairs to act out. Step 4 Practicing Role Play 1 Practice: A How do you feel when you get a pay raise/ are promoted? B I feel very happy/delighted/excited/pleased. Step 5 Conclusion Draw a conclusion of this lesson. Step6: Homework Remember and copy words, phrases and important sentences.
