Pay much attention to the old Abstract The Double Ninth Festival is on the ninth day of the ninth month in the lunar calendar, which is a festival meaning a long longevity. With the aging of the population, it was endowed with special connotation of caring for the old man. So, I had made a survey questionnaire on October 13 around the east campus of China Agricultural University. In the survey, there are seven questions about the festival and the old man. Through the analysis of the data, we draw four conclusions as follows: 1) Our residents have a strong sense of respecting the old, and our society are paying more and more attention to the problem of the old. 2) The Double Ninth Festival have potential in Improving peoples care and respect to the old. 3) The characteristics of Chinese aging problem is large population, complex situation and emerging issues. 4) We don’t have enough experience and practical approach in facing with the challenge of the aging of the population. Meanwhile the pronunciation of “99” is similar with the one of long long, which means a long longevity. Autumn is a harvest season of the year, so our ancients considered it a lucky day to celebrate, which starts from the Warring States period. Lots of people in China has a special feeling to the Festival, thus there are a lot of poetry to praise it. In order to strengthen peoples sense of respecting and caring for the old, the Double Ninth Festival was identified as the Senior Citizens Festival in 1988.
