Period Two The General Idea of This Period Reading two passages and learning some words about food, body and health. Training the Ss’ abilities of reading and understanding. Teaching Aims 1. To get Ss to master the reading skills of scanning and skimming. 2. To let Ss master the language points in the textbook. 3. To let Ss master the grammar rules that nouns used as verbs. Teaching Important Points 1. Train the Ss’ reading ability. 2. Get the Ss to master some words about health and body. Teaching Difficult Point How to improve the students’ reading ability. Teaching Methods 1. Individual or pair work to make every student work in class. 2. Fast reading and careful reading to understand the passage correctly. Teaching Aids 1.a tape recorder  2. the blackboard Teaching Procedures Step 1 Revision and lead-in (To let Ss review what had learnt last period, and lead them to the new content.) 1. Ask Ss the following question: Do you still remember the words connected with illness? 2. Warming up by reading: Staying Healthy Good health is the most valuable thing a person can have, but one can’t take good health for granted. It is important to remember that the body needs proper care in order to be healthy. There are three things that a person can do to help stay in good shape: one should eat right food, get enough sleep, and exercise regularly. Proper nutrition is important for good health. Your body can’t work well unless it receives the proper kind of “fuel”. Don’t eat too much food with lots of fat and sugar. Eat plenty of food high in protein(蛋白) like meat, fish, eggs and nuts. Vegetables and fruits are very important because they provide necessary vitamins and minerals. However, don’t overeat. Getting the proper amount of sleep is also important. If you don’t get enough sleep, you feel tired and easily get angry. You have no energy. Over a long period of time, a little amount of sleep may even result in a change of personality. Be sure to al
