整体设计
教材分析
本节课是精读课。通过上一节课的识记和讨论, 学生对沙尘暴已经有了一个大体的了解, 于是在本节课中, 学生先对一些将会见到的生词进行初步的识记, 然后通过阅读深入了解沙尘暴特别是亚洲的沙尘暴。了解其形成原因并讨论应对的办法。同时学生能学习一些阅读技巧,如速读和略读。
三维目标
1. 知识与技能
1)Train students’ reading ability.
2)Learn some useful words and expressions.
3)Know about some facts about sandstorms.
2. 过程与方法
1)Make students know much more information about sandstorms in Asia, especially in China.
2)Encourage them to find ways to protect the environment.
3. 情感与价值
1)Make students have a better understanding of sandstorms.
2)Encourage them to protect our earth and environment.
教学重点
1. Help students to understand sandstorms better.
2. Learn and master some important words and phrases used to describe sandstorms in this period.
教学难点
1. Try to improve students’ reading ability and understand the passage better.
2. Master the important language points in this passage.
3. Describe the natural disasters.
教学方法
1. Fast reading to get the general idea of the text.
2. Intensive reading to understand the passage better.
3. Discussion to help students understand what they’ve learned better.
4. Explanation to help students master some language points.
教学过程
→ Step 1 Revision and lead-in
1. Greet the whole class as usual.
2. Check their homework. Let some students report their discussion of Activity 3 on Page 31.
Option One: Lead-in
The teacher can lead students into the topic of the text by talking about the weather as follows:
T: What’s the weather like today?
S: It’s sunny(or: rainy/windy. . . )
T: Is the weather nice or bad?
S: (Suppose today’s weather is sunny, students will answer like this. )Very nice.
T: En, nice, very nice. But the weather is not always nice, sometimes there is a lot of bad or even terrible weather. We can call the bad or even terrible weather “natural disaster”. Do you know “disaster”?
S: Yes, we do. It means “灾害”in Chinese.
T: Good, can you speak out the names of some disastrous(灾难性的)weather in the last module—Module 3 The Violence of Nature?
