Now we wanted to develop some machinery for doing this “counting noses” business, in the hopes of getting a more quantitative number for information than the 10^120 used by Lloyd. This is a first cut at it, but is obviously too limited by my insufficient expertise in information theory and General Relativity. I would hope that I have outlined enough to motivate better trained investigators to continue this elucidation. Shannon information is defined as negentropy, which is the negative logarithm of the states of the system. I = -S = -k ln(omega). Just as Smolin is looking for a complementary space to spacetime, so we also began by recognizing that the Fourier transform applies to both space and time. Working from Einsteins ansatz that they are aspects of the same 4-D reality, we generalize Shannon information to a 4-D space.
