Sterns Presented to the UF Haiti Working Group September 16, 2011 * In today’s presentation An overview of the project, from inception to current status Lessons learned to date Next steps and future possibilities for collaboration * A Working Partnership Faculté dAgronomie et de Médecine Vétérinaire (FAMV - Damien), Université d’état d’Ha?ti University of Florida FRED, AEC, IFAS International Programs Higher Education for Development USAID Haiti Mission, Education Program Office Time Line of Project Project Awarded on October 30, 2007 First visit to Haiti by UF Project Team members, for project planning and coordination, July 2008 Project Team members conduct interviews for Skill Gap Analysis, Nov. 2008 Major Earthquake strikes Haiti, January 12, 2010 Seven FAMV faculty members visit UF campus for pedagogy workshops, late September/early Oct 2010 Third visit to Haiti by UF Project Team members for peer assessment, internship and External Advisory Committee workshops, February 2011 Fourth visit to Haiti by UF Project Team members, for additional workshops, and planning of outreach activities, July 2011 Fifth visit to Haiti by UF Project Team members, to facilitate on-going activities and plan National Agribusiness and Entrepreneurship Symposium, December 4 - 10, 2011 Sixth visit to Haiti by UF Project Team members, to participate in National Symposium and project Review, February 23-28, 2012 * * Lessons learned to date Specific to Project Pedagogy training has been very well received with evidence of improved teaching at FAMV Linkages between FAMV and the Private Sector are limited but improving External Advisory Council Student Internships Strong interest in entrepreneurship * Lessons learned to date Specific to Project Awareness and proactive efforts to address gender issues remain a challenge Outreach and extension programming that builds on FAMV
