Economy hotel is also called limited service hotel ，it’s devoted to refine on the mode of operations which based on the core service: “Breakfast and Bed”. Economy hotel is different from traditional full service hotel. Economy hotels in Chengdu appeared in 2000, at that moment, the New Times Hotel was taken over by the management company of American Marley Card Hotel and its name was officially changed as The New Area Marley Card Hotel. From that time, the local economy hotels in Chengdu started to develop. However, only from 2004, the economy hotels in Chengdu began to develop rapidly. There have been many international and native brands of economy hotels in Chengdu, such as Super8, Star of Jin Jiang, Anyi158, Home Inns Express and so on. The business of economy hotel in Chengdu became prosperous. Economy hotel originated in America in 1850s and the mode of operations has become mature in developed country. Economy hotels possessed a high proportion of market in developed country. In Chengdu, though economy hotels developed rapidly, they are still in the initial stage. Some problems such as hotels lack unified standard, hardware facilities is unqualified and so on. These problems will restrict the development of economy hotel. Therefore this paper aimed at introducing the present situation, development and the mode of operations of economy hotel in Chengdu and analyzing the problems so that we can improve them.
