The new model features a 2.4-liter SIDI intelligent direct injection engine along with advanced eAssist intelligent technology, which work together to reduce fuel consumption by 20 percent compared with the standard model. GM’s joint venture, Shanghai GM, is taking orders for its newest product at Buick dealerships in 25 pilot cities. Deliveries to customers will begin in September. The Elegant version is priced at RMB 265,900 and the Luxury Elegant version is priced at RMB 285,900. At the heart of the LaCrosse eAssist is an advanced 115V lithium-ion battery and latest-generation 15kW motor-generator unit, which help increase fuel economy. This provides electricity to charge the battery and electric power assistance during heavy acceleration. The system offers automatic and smooth engine start-stop functionality when the vehicle is stopped, the use of electricity instead of gasoline when stopped, aggressive fuel cut-off during deceleration for added fuel savings, and intelligent charge/discharge of the high-voltage battery.
