HBCC Initial Trip Report Information Technology Centre (ITC) KFUPM Delegation Members: Prof. Sadiq M. Sait Director, Information Technology Center Mr. Jaweed Yazdani Manager, Computing Services Mr. Hasan Al-Salem Manager, Administrative Information Systems Mr. Asif Sayani Network Administrator Section 1 Introduction A team from the Information Technology Center (ITC) comprising Dr. Sadiq Sait Mohammad, Director, ITC, Mr. Jaweed Yazdani, CSS Manager, Mr. Hassan Al-Salem, ADIS Manager, and Mr. Asif Sayani, Network Engineer visited the Hafr Al-Baten Community College (HBCC). The trip was approved by HE the Rector upon the recommendation of the Planning Committee. The team was charged to study the current infrastructure and plan for HBCC Information Technology (IT) requirements for the next 5 years. As an initial trip report, the short-term HBCC requirements and recommendations are presented in this report. A detailed IT plan in consultation with HBCC will follow in due time after a thorough analysis. Section 2 HBCC infrastructure HBCC is currently located in campus with two major buildings. An administrative building with some labs is located adjacent to a classroom building. The faculty housing is located in 2 buildings with one of those buildings directly opposite to the college. The plan for a new larger campus for HBCC is underway and may be implemented in next 5-7 years. The KFUPM/ITC team visited all current IT infrastructure locations at HBCC. The following observations have been prepared after an initial review of the current infrastructure. Hardware Infrastructure The latest deliveries in the last one year to HBCC through ITC include 85 Pentium IV PCs, 3 powerful servers and 20 HP NC 8230 notebooks with docking stations.
