1.5 EMERGENCY INSTRUCTION FOR MAIN ENGINE PROTECTING SYSTEM FOLLOWING INFORMATION IS IN ACCORDANCE TO NSSPL/TECH/CIRC/029 DATED 25TH FEBRUARY 2000. ENGINE PROTECTING SYSTEM CARRIES OUT THE EMERGENCY STOP OF THE MAIN ENGINE. IT IS INDEPENDENT OF THE REMOTE CONTROL SYSTEM AND IS AVAILABLE ANY TIME, REGARDLESS OF THE CONTROL POSITION OF THE MAIN ENGINE. When emergency SHUT DOWN is activated by any OF THE SHUT DOWN ELEMENTS, solenoid valve EST (POS.127) will BE energized, WHICH LEADS EMERGENCY SHUT DOWN AIR TO EACH PUNCTURE VALVE AT THE FUEL INJECTION VALVE TO CUT OFF THE FUEL. Emergency stop can be also activated manually at the wheelhouse (W/H), engine control room (C/R) and engine side (E/s). nOTE: All 3 emergency stop buttonS ARE active regardless of the control station. Main engine emergency SHUT DOWN ELEMENTS CONSIST OF pressure switches, THERMO-SWITCHES and magnetic proximity switch (RPM PICK-UP), which detects the abnormal condition and energizes the emergency stop solenoid valve. following is a list of Emergency trips (4 components) and its location: emergency trip TRIP SETTING location OF PRESS/TEMP SWITCH main engine L.O. inlet low pressure (mlo) 0.076 mpa lower pLATFORm stbd fwd of m/e. TURBOCHARGER L.O. INLET LOW PRESSURE (TLO) 0.06 mpa m/e local control platform pressure switch boarD main engine thurst pad bearing high tempERATURE (tpt) 85 DEG C aft of m/e near turning gear MAIN ENGINE OVERSPEED 114 rpm Main engine over speed trip is activated by engine protecting system DEPENDING on the shaft / flywheel rpm. The magnetic pick-upS are at the starboard side of the flywheel. Main engine L.O. low press trip switch (MLO) REMOVE CONNECTOR PLUG TO THE PRESSURE SWITCH IN CASE OF FAULT Main Engine L.O. Inlet Low Pressure Trip (mlo) The pressure switch is located at LOWER PLATFORM STARBOARD FWD OF ENGINE SIDE. The setting of the low pressure trip is at 0.076 MPA. In the event of a suspected fault in the system
