词汇学案 1. rather than 与其，不愿（并列连词，用于连接两个并列成分） ①He is a dancer rather than a singer. ②He is lazy rather than stupid. ③She enjoys dancing rather than singing. ④We’ll have the meeting in the classroom rather than in the great hall. rather than连接的并列成分可以是名词、代词、形容词、介词短语、动名词、不定式等，但注意以下几点：①rather than连接两个并列不定式时， rather than之后的不定式常省略。 ②rather than连接两个名词或代词作主语时，谓语动词应与rather than前面的名词或代词在人称或数上保持一致。如： ①I decided to write rather than (to) telephone. ＝Rather than telephone, I decided to write. ②The teacher rather than the students was to blame for the failure of the experiment. 拓展: ①would rather do… than do… 宁愿…而不愿… would do… rather than do… prefer to do… rather than do… prefer doing… to doing… ②would rather do sth 宁愿做某事 would rather have done sth宁愿已经做了某事 ③would rather (that) sb did sth 宁愿某人做某事 would rather (that) sb had done sth宁愿某人已经做了某事 baggage n. 行李 （主要用于美式英语，英国人多用luggage） baggage为不可数名词，统指行李，前面不可加a，也没有复数形式。 如果要表达“一件行李”，则可以说 a piece of baggage或an article of baggage ①Have you checked all your baggage? ②She carried only one piece of baggage with her. chat v.n. 聊天，闲谈 词组：chat with sb.
