Sadly I have to report that during 2012, we had 4 positive drugs tests revealed. All four athletes are currently banned from our sport. 3 athletes – banned substances found in competition (bans run until February 2014) 1 athlete – banned substances found out of competition (ban runs until June 2014) ? These positive tests have had a serious effect on our sport standing. These are the first we have had to report on, and hopefully they will be the last. Please all athletes, adhere to the WADA and TWIF Anti Doping Rules, and help us to regain our good name in the sporting world, and return to our previous enviable image of being a truly wonderful and clean sport. ?In 2012, TWIF carried out 11 out-of-competition tests. Member countries have completed 58 in-competition tests and 27 out-of-competition tests. All results so far reported on show no positive tests. ?After the World Games in Cali, the TWIF Registered Testing Pool of Athletes will expand, and we will work towards each athlete becoming responsible for their own Whereabouts Filing. This is another bone of contention – again we have athletes not at their designated site when a Doping Control Officer attempts to take an out-of-competition doping test. ? These missed tests are costing TWIF as much as the full cost of successfully completed tests. A total waste of resources; which should be used more positively. We have stressed in the past just how important it is that athletes keep their Whereabouts updated if their plans change. We appreciate that in some cases, plans can change almost as soon as your current quarter’s details have been completed and submitted – but the Whereabouts must be updated. WADA has instructed that we must increase our minimum amount of out of competition tests to at least 12 – this must b
