Negation (正说反译、反说正译法) The English language has its peculiarities in negation. Of course, English-speaking people have their own way of thinking in the negation and expressing negative implications. What is affirmative in form in English may be implied something negative in Chinese, and vice versa. The use of “yes” and “no” is a case in point. 1. --“Are you not going tomorrow?” --“No, I’m not going.” 2. “I don’t think you’re right in this point.” 5). Smoking is prohibited in public places.　 公共场所不准吸烟。 4) On the morning of the exam day I woke up early. 考试的那天早上，我醒得很早。（省略介词） 5) It is really a tough job --- there is no help for it. 这真是件棘手的事，毫无法子可想。（省略介词及其宾语） 4. 省略冠词 1). A book is useful. （是）有用（的）。 2). The moon was slowly rising above the sea.） 月亮从海面上慢慢升起。 3). A teacher should have patience in his work. 当教员的应当有耐心。（省略表示类别的不定冠词A） 4). The girl standing at the window is his girlfriend. 站在窗口的（那个）女孩是他女朋友。 5). Milk is sold by the pound. 牛奶按磅计价。（牛奶是 论磅卖。） 6). He left without a word. 他一句话不说就走了。 7). The children are of
