Introduction of Black Culture in America Black Culture in America The early European colonies in America looked for a supply of cheap labor to use on their plantations and found it in West Africa. In 1619 twenty Africans landed at Jamestown, Virginia and were sold into slavery. The history of the Negroes in America is deeply rooted in African culture. Black people are treated as alsves By the 19th century millions of Negroes were involved in the slave trade to work in the fields, plantations and mines of the Americas. ?all men are created equal.“ ?From the Declaration of Independence?in 1776? American Revolution ended two centuries of British rule for most of the North American colonies and. In the wake of the Revolution came events the drafting and ratification of the Constitution of the United States of America and the rebellions of slaves who saw the contrast between slavery and proclamations of liberty. The life of the Negro slaves was hard. They were forced to work long hours and lived under harsh colonial laws. Civil war Declaration of Independence? 独立宣言 ?Civil War (1861-1865)? There were some people known as Abolitionists who wanted to do away with slavery and a growing debate developed between those who favored slavery and those who were opposed. It became a moral issue After the war Opposition to the slavery system The black slaves numbering close to four million were freed but their life was not easy. They were not prepared for their new independence.
