Where is The New Project From? There Are Two Primary Avenues To Generate Product Development Interest. Base on Marketing Research and SBU (Strategic Business Unit ). NEW PRODUCT Derivative New A. Derivative Products This input is usually Marketing driven. It can be a reaction to market trends and opportunities as a result of end user research or to follow strategic or tactical plans. These programs are simple and involve minimal component design. The activity supporting derivative product introduction requires documentation, packaging, and artwork performed by specialists. B. New Products Unique new products. Replacement products with substantial redesign. Idea sources such as new applications, customers, external inventors, patents, magazines and exhibitions contribute to generate ideas. The Development Process begins with the SBU that is responsible for defining the company’s strategic direction and will prioritize the list of programs for development.
