Text As a countable noun, its commonly used in linguistics and stylistics to refer to a sequential collection of sentences or utterances which form a unity by reason of their linguistic cohesion and semantic coherence:e.g. a scientific article,a recipe,a poem,a public lecture,etc. The connection among parts of a text is achieved by various cohesive devices, and by semantic and pragmatic implication.Texts are recognized as appropriately coherent in actual use.A full understanding of a text is often impossible without reference to the context in which it occurs.
