Grammar: Simple present tense of the verb to be
Ⅰ.Teaching aims and demands:
1.To use the simple present tense to talk about facts and states
2.To make positive and negative statements with ‘to be’;
3. To ask questions with the verb ‘to be’
4. To master some new words and phrases.
Ⅱ. Teaching importance and difficulties:
1.Use ‘to be’ correctly in simple present tense;
2.Use ‘to be’ to form positive and negative sentences;
3.Use ‘to be’ to ask and answer questions.
Ⅲ.Teaching Methods
Communicative method; Situational language teaching method; Task-based method.

V. Teaching procedures
Step 1. Free talk (3’)
Ask Ss to answer some questions.
T: What are you?
S:I am a student.
T: How old are you?
S: I’m 12.
T: Yes, you are student, I am a teacher. Now ,we are in Grade 7.
Step 2. Lead-in (3’)
I have a good friend ,today she is here with us. Let’s welcome her.(show a picture of Millie)
Millie is introducing herself, let’s listen to her . (choose a student to play Millie and read the article out)
Hi, I am Millie. I am eight years old. I live in Beijing Sunshine Town with my parents. My dad is a doctor. He wears glasses. My Mum is a teacher. She is very nice. We have two dogs. They are very cute. I like my school. It is very beautiful.
Step 3. The positive sentences in simple present tense (6’)
Ask the students to pay attentions to the verb ‘to be’ and underline them in the passage.
Explain that we use the simple present tense to talk about facts and states.
Discuss how to use ‘to be’ correctly. Go through the table on P11.
Complete the sentences with ‘to be’
The dog big.
My bag at home.
I a student.
His classmates friendly.
Your English teacher nice.
Step 4 The contractions of ‘to be’ (4’)
T: Someone can’t hear clearly. Well, let’s Millie introduce again.
1.Read Millie again, pay attention to the changes in writing.
