M5 Unit 1 Word power
Learning aim:
1. master a number of words related to Personality by involving themselves in different activities.
2. reflect on friendship and prepare yourself for learning the next part.
Key points:
1. make sure you master relevant knowledge.
2. try to learn about the meaning of friendship and solve relevant problem in your life.
Teaching methods: group work , discussion, exercises.
Step 1 lead in
Students and teacher play a guessing game: Who is he/she?
Students are asked to guess who the teacher is through the given description of the teacher.
2. Teacher introduces the topic of today’s lesson: Adjectives to describe personality by focusing Students’ attention on the words about personalities in the descriptions.
Step 2 Presentation of words describing personality
Students are asked to work in a group of four and discuss the personalities of famous cartoon characters. Teacher gives four choices for each group: the seven dwarfs, the evil queen, Kung Fu Panda, and TomJerry. Each group is free to choose any one of the four choices.
Representatives from each group tell the rest of the class their opinions towards the cartoon character.
(In this process, students are allowed to refer to the dictionary or turn to teacher for help if they have any difficulty.)
Step 3 Introduction of Positive adjectives and Negative adjectives
1. T puts all the adjectives that come up in Step 2 into two categories.
