Unit3 Under the sea
2nd period Reading (I) Old Tom The Killer Whale
1.教材分析(The analysis of teaching materials)
This Unit mainly focuses on the sea. The aim is to let the Ss enjoy the beauty of sea. Therefore they need to know some basic knowledge about sea. Such as the things under the sea, the stories about the sea. With this basis, we can promote the Ss’ emotional development.
2.学情分析(The analysis of the students)
The Ss know little about the sea. This unit can make them master some knowledge under the sea. On the other hand, the Ss need broaden their horizon. This lesson can give them a rough knowledge of the sea.
3.教学目标(Teaching aims)
*知识目标(Knowledge aims)
Important words and phrases:
anecdote, annual, witness, accommodation, shore, yell, pack, flee, drag, depth, lip, tongue, abandon, relationship, rent, seaside, net, dimension, ahead of, in the meantime, help out, be / become aware of, upside down, (be) scared to death, the Antarctic, sort out, throw ... out of, etc.
*能力目标(Ability aims)
Enable the students to know more about the sea, including the reason why people like the dolphin.
* 情感目标(Emotional aims)
Promote the Ss to enjoy the natural and broaden their horizon.
4.教学重点(Teaching important points)
Make the students understand the whole text.
Understand the killer whale’s advantages.
5.教学难点(Teaching and difficult points)
Get the main idea of this text.
Make the students can retell the text.

Ask the Ss the following questions.
