This work is licensed under the Creative Commons Attribution International License (CC BY). /licenses/by/4.0/ Abstract The present study investigated the relationship between emotional intelligence (EI) and negative affect (NA) among senior high school students. 310 participants were examined by Emotional In- telligence Scale, Solitary Coping Scale, and Negative Affect Scale. The result showed that 1) EI and Solitude both negatively related NA. 2) Further, Solitude played as a mediating role between the relationship of EI and NA.
