METHODS: Essential health institutional information were classified and abstracted according to national health information conceptual data model, and data modeling was performed by UML method, and data elements were standardized based on available standards. RESULTS: Essential health institutional information was classified and represented by object diagram, and data elements were standardized. CONCLUSION: We have summarized a set of thinking process and approaches of standardization of data elements by classifying and modeling essential health institutional information, which can provide scientific evidences for standardization of national health information and reformation of health statistical survey institution.
