[Abstract] sodium alginate with chitosan as a substrate material, in the emulsion system in order to re-unite Preparation of ceftriaxone sodium alginate chitosan (calcium) microspheres to study the optimum conditions into a ball and contain drug Micro-ball performance. The results showed that the optimum conditions for preparation of chitosan concentration: the concentration of sodium alginate = 1:1, pH4.0, reaction temperature 25 ℃ , stirring speed 200r/min. In vitro experiments show that the whole round form microspheres containing the drug has a good swelling and release properties.

ABSTRACT The process and characterization of ceftriaxone microspheres made by complex coacervation method in an emulsion system with alginate chitosan as matrix material were imyestigated. Results showed that optimal conditions were conantration of (chitosan: alginate) = 1:1, pH = 4.0, rotation rate = 200r/min, T = 25 ℃ , and that the excellent sustained release and swelling behaviour were achived by the microspheres.
