Methods 66 cases of elderly patients with depression were randomly divided into two groups of 33 cases of study group were given citalopram treatment, control group was given maprotiline in the treatment, treatment 6w. Using Hamilton Depression Rating Scale assessed the clinical efficacy, side effects rating scale adverse reactions. The results of the treatment groups 1 w, 2 w the end of Hamilton Depression Rating Scale score than those before treatment decreased significantly (P amp;lt;0.05 or 0.01), study group than in the control group decreased significantly (P amp;lt;0.01 or 0.05); treatment of 6 w end of study group were 81.8% and the total effective rate was 93.9%; control group were 75.8%, 87.9%. Groups overall efficacy rather (Pamp;gt; 0.05), but the study group than in the control group of adverse reaction rate is low, and to a lesser extent, the difference was significant (P amp;lt;0.05). Conclusion citalopram in treatment of senile depression, fast onset of action, efficacy significantly, high security, compliance is good.
