 PAGE \* MERGEFORMAT 21 GSS system in the treatment and prevention of complications of thoracolumbar fractures Abstract analyzed and summarized GSS (general spine system, GSS) for the treatment of thoracolumbar fractures complications and their causes, in order to find better preventive measures to reduce the incidence of complications in the course of treatment. [Methods] Retrospective analysis from January 2003 ~ December 2005 at the undergraduate GSS thoracolumbar fractures received internal fixation surgery in patients with the treatment of 83 patients, all patients were followed up after an average follow-up time of 22 months. [Results] complications occurred in 15 cases, the incidence of 18.1%, of which 3 cases of wrong positioning, GSS screws into the vertebral space in 2 cases, vertebral height softened less than 4 cases, cerebrospinal fluid leakage in 1 case, loosening of screw channel in 2 cases, broken nails 2 cases of postoperative infection in 1 case. Analysis of causes of complications, mainly: (1) inadequate preoperative preparation; (2) changes in risk of vertebral anatomy; (3) GSS system design deficiencies; (4) technological factors. [Conclusion] The preoperative risk of vertebral according to the specific conditions of the well-developed surgical procedures, preoperative preparation for full and accurate surgical operation, a reasonable post-operative rehabilitation process is to reduce the GSS system, the incidence of fixation failure effective means.
